Two things came to mind as Remington awoke the following morning. One was that he was sore from head to toe, and the second was a delightful aroma invading his nostrils. He was about to open his eyes and search out the enticing smell when Laura's voice stopped him.
"No you don't, keep those eyes closed."
"Laura? What the devil is..."
"The Devil has nothing to do with this. Keep still, and keep those peepers shut." She commanded.
"Absolutely." Remington replied with mirth.
"Ok, now you can open them." Laura commanded.
Remington opened his eyes and was shocked. Laura was standing before him in a snug, floral bikini top with a matching sarong. Her hair was secured with fresh island flowers and then cascaded down her back. In one word, she looked delectable.
"Laura. Good Lord, you look...amazing!"
"Why thank you. Now if you'll follow me out to the patio, your breakfast is served."
Remington eyed the French doors, and then Laura. "Are you sure we can't... skip breakfast? I was feeling like I'd just gotten surfed over by a Yacht, but I'm feeling much...perkier now." He grinned, lasciviously.
"I'm sure you're quite perky this morning, but we've got to keep your strength up. Besides, we promised the Millers we'd meet them for Salsa lessons."
"We did? Are you sure we can't cancel? If we don't show up, eventually their bound to realized we've been...detained." He winked.
"Oh no you don't, our week is almost up, and we still haven't done any detecting."
"Of course we have, just last night I discovered that lovely little spot right above your..."
"Uh-uh," Laura said, interrupting him before he made her blush. "Put the hormones away, we've got work to do."
Remington sat down and placed his napkin in his lap. Laura sat across from him and began filling a plate with a little of everything she'd ordered. She handed it to him, then filled another plate for herself. If Remington noticed her gesture as out of character, he didn't mention it.
"This was a wonderful surprise Laura, and you look as edible as the breakfast."
"Save your flattery darling, you're not getting out of those lessons." Laura warned, stuffing a roll into his mouth.
"What?" He said, innocently between bites. "What on earth gave you the impression that I was going to forgo a chance to hold you close, and grind my body up against yours?"
Laura almost choked on her pineapple juice.

"I don't think we have a case," Laura said, dismally.
"What's wrong with that? We can't have a bad guy in our midst every time Laura." Remington concluded.
"I know but still..."
"Laura, you mean to tell me in all the cases you've pursued over the years, every single one has been chocked-full of criminals?"
"Of course not but..." Laura started, then shrieked.
"Something the matter, darling?"
"Stop that," Laura said, warily.
"Stop what?"
"T-H-A-T!" Laura stressed, before moaning in pleasure seconds later.
"I thought you liked what I do to you?"
"I do, you know I do. It's just that..."
"That what, my love?" Remington breathed.
"It's...it's driving me to distraction." she shuddered.
"Isn't that my principle duty? The reason I was hired?" He said, in a heavily pronounced accent.
Laura closed her eyes and almost purred aloud. When he spoke like that...hell, Laura was only human, and those proper tones affected her on a purely primitive level.
"I mean it." Laura flicked her tongue over her bottom lip.
"But of course," Remington said, promptly dropping her foot.
Her skin was tingling from his massage. "Thank you." Laura replied in a voice brimming with disappointment. "Now where was I?"
"The case, or lack thereof." Remington yawned stretching back against the headboard.
"Oh, yeah. We've got to give Mrs. Sandoval our report tomorrow. I can't believe we haven't uncovered any evidence of wrong doing, subterfuge or hidden agendas." Her shoulders slumped.
"Laura, you sound displeased." Remington accused. "It wasn't all a wasted trip...was it?"
"Of course not. We got the security contract didn't we? That will guarantee plenty of PR for the agency, not to mention boosting us into the black."
Remington blinked a few seconds and then without warning leaned over and knocked Laura flat on her back. "Is that all this trip meant to you? Agency business?" He stretched himself completely out against her and tilted his pelvis toward hers for good measure. His arousal was evident and Laura's body reacted instantly.
"You know it wasn't." Laura said, softly, blushing down to her toes.
"So there's hope that the patient won't be making a full recovery?"
Murphy's favorite saying wasn't lost on her. She was shaking her head before sound had escaped her lips.
"No, I think I'm too far gone." Laura whispered with an honesty that surprised her.
From the look he wore, her declaration had surprised him to. Remington leaned down and kissed Laura tenderly. "Thank Heavens for that." He breathed into her mouth.
Their last night on the island was solemn and magical. They said goodbye to all the married couples they'd befriended, enjoyed a final dinner at the resort, and took a moonlit stroll along the beach. The night was almost surreal; the shimmering of the moon across the water, the gentle waves lapping against the shore, the utter quiet and the majestic splendor of the resort. Everything conspired to make their last night in paradise unforgettable.
They returned to their room and fell into each other's arms. Their lovemaking was desperate in its intensity, feverish in its pitch. They couldn't seem to get enough of each other, and when Remington entered Laura, it was fast and furious. Their bodies bucked wildly. It wasn't long before each was straining to reach that perfect moment. Suddenly, as if by complete surprise, their bodies tightened and both cried out as their passion crescendoed one final time before returning to normal. Sweating, gasping and utterly spent, they clung to each other. In seconds, each faded into oblivion.
Dawn slowly arrived and with it their desire. This time they made love slowly, savoring each other as if they had all the time in the world instead of hours until their flight. They tasted, explored, savored and cherished each other until Laura thought she'd burst with tears from the intensity of it. Afterwards both lay replete, in each other's arms.
"That was...indescribable." Remington said, quietly rubbing her arm.
"I know." Laura murmured.
"This may sound juvenile but...tell me it's never been this way before, Laura. That you've never felt like this with anyone else."
"I haven't. I've never bared myself so completely to anyone before." She said, truthfully.
"It's crazy, but I'm ridiculously happy to hear that."
Instinctively Laura knew this sudden show of emotion, of vulnerability, was embarrassing for him.
"What about you?" Laura couldn't help but ask.
"You honestly have to ask?"
"You did." Laura countered.
"Touché."
"No, it's never been like this before. This was more that I've ever experienced, and it wasn't just the lovemaking Laura, Lord knows that's incredible enough. It was everything about this trip; being with you, laughing with you, sharing meals with you, getting to see a side of you I knew existed but had never been privy too. I hope you know it was a privilege I don't take lightly."
Laura leaned up on her elbow and looked in his eyes. "Sure I do."
Remington pulled her against him and kissed her soundly. "Tell me you love me, Laura. I must admit now that you've said it, I don't think I'll ever tire of hearing it."
"I love you. Your past and your name may be an enigma, but I don't care. I still love you. I couldn't stop if I tried. Not that I want to, now that I've admitted it."
"I'm a fortunate man indeed," Remington said, thickly before he turned her over and under him.

"I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay, Miss Holt. The Remington Steele Agency is all it's reputed to be. You've done a splendid job and I'm confident the security measures you'll be taking will be top notch."
"We thank you for the opportunity, Mrs. Sandoval." Laura smiled shaking the woman's hand.
"Genevieve please." She corrected.
"Remington, it was a pleasure to meet you. I will be seeing you both again very soon. My personal assistant will contact you in a week or so, to set up the necessary arrangements for your staff to visit our other resorts."
"Thank you again Genevieve." Laura smiled, warmly. "This is an exceptional resort and we're pleased to report that the only thing going on here is wonderful opportunities for couples to be in love, and enjoy themselves," Laura said, pointedly.
Remington winked to let her know he'd understood the depth of her words.
"Uh Laura, would you mind alerting our Limo driver that we're ready?" Remington asked.
"Sure." Laura replied then waved goodbye to their hostess.
When Laura left, Remington turned toward Mrs. Sandoval. "You've outdone yourself, Aunt Genny. I'm forever in you debt." Remington said, softly.
"Oh darling, don't say another word. You know I'd do anything for you. You're as close to a son as my crotchety big brother is ever going to get. Daniel loves you dearly, and of course that means you couldn't be any more my nephew if you tried." She winked. "She's quite a woman darling, I must admit I like her a lot. She's got gumption and enough spunk to clobber you if you get out of line." His Aunt teased.
"Which she's been known to do on occasion," Remington said, dryly.
"About the security systems Genny..."
"Don't say a word. I had to get them anyway, and better from a relative than a stranger," she said wrapping her arm through his.
"She doesn't have a clue?"
"Not a one. If she did, I don't think she would've made this trip."
"You love her, huh?"
"Absolutely." He replied, without hesitation.
"You must darling to risk her finding out you set this whole thing up just to woo her." His Aunt smiled.
"She'd have never come on her own, Genny. I had to make it business related just to get her here. It had to happen, and now that it has, let's just say I think I've just added ten years back to my lifespan."
"Oh, I don't know about that, my love. I've seen the looks you've both been giving each other this week, especially after the night we had the limbo party."
"Aunt Genny." Remington coughed.
"What? You don't think I know the precise moment that you..."
"Enough! Does Uncle Angelo know you're this brazen?"
"Oh honey, please, of course he does--and he loves it. Just remember, it ain't over, till it's over."
"I don't think I want to continue this conversation," Remington said, blanching.
"Don't tell me I've embarrassed the great Don Juan?" Genny laughed.
"Ex-Don Juan. I'm off the market, Aunt."
"Oh, no sweety, being a lover of women doesn't mean once you find the right one you hang up your title. I'm sure Laura will appreciate and benefit greatly from all your...worldly experience."
"And here I thought Daniel was the hopeless romantic."
"He may be older, but I'm the wiser." She winked kissing him lovingly. "Now, your partner awaits, and there's nothing women dislike more than to be kept waiting," she said, sternly.
Remington kissed her a final time before heading out the door to the awaiting limo. He slid in beside Laura, and took her proffered glass of wine.
"She's a remarkable lady, isn't she?" Laura remarked.
"That she is. It's funny, but she said the same thing about you."
"Really? Well, I really liked her. I think it will be a pleasure working with Sandoval Resorts."
"Of that I have no doubt, Miss Holt," Remington said, kissing the tip of her nose. "Now, on to more pressing matters."
"Such as?"
"Like how we're going to handle things when we return to Los Angeles."
"I suspect just like we did here, only more discreetly, of course." Laura laughed.
"I'm serious, Laura. I know how adamant you've been in the past about not mixing business with pleasure."
"We seem to have been doing that since we got here, wouldn't you agree?"
"Yes we have, that's why I think we should iron out before we get back, just how things are going to work between us."
"I'd say everything works just fine between us." Laura sighed in memory.
"Did we do a role reversal somewhere along the way? I'm usually the one unconcerned about protocol and you're usually the stickler for professionalism."
"I know, boring isn't it? I think I've just changed my motto. More play, less work." Laura laughed.
Remington looked at her as if she'd lost her mind. "Laura is that you?" He said, tapping lightly on her head. "Excuse me Miss, but if you see Laura Holt in there, would you send her out? We need to discuss a few things."
"Oh really, Mr. Steele. I haven't taken leave of my senses, as a matter of fact, I think I've found them again," Laura said, rubbing her hand up and down his leg. "Thanks to you...and Aunt Genny."
Remington sputtered and choked on his wine. Laura patted him rapidly on the back and waited for him to collect himself.
"Did you just say, Aunt Genny?" He said, hoarsely.
"Mmm Hmm. And before you go denying any relation to the woman, I think you should know I overheard you talking."
"You did?" He groaned.
"Yes, I did. So don't bother denying it. I know you conjured up this whole case to get me down here."
"Look Laura, I...I can explain."
"Spare me the details Mr. Steele." Laura quipped holding up a hand to silence him.
Remington looked at Laura and his mouth dropped open. "Wait a minute. You aren't ranting and raving at me. You haven't threatened to revoke my credit cards or give me the smaller office. Does this mean you aren't angry at my..."
"Bald faced lie?"
"Well yes," Remington said, sheepishly.
"Actually I'm glad you did it, and you were right. I probably wouldn't have come down here if I'd have known there wasn't a real case."
"There wasn't a real case, but the security work is real, Laura. The agency was hired by my Aunt to outfit her resorts, that much is true."
"Thank you." Laura replied kissing him soundly.
"You're welcome."
"Home, Miss Holt?"
"Home, Mr. Steele."
"I can't wait to tell Murphy that we..."
"Mr. Steele." Laura warned.
"Oh Laura, can't I just drop a few hints?" Remington begged.
"Forget it!" Laura shook her head.
"Really Laura, Murphy and Miss Wolf are bound to know the moment we walk through the door that something transpired between us."
"And why would you think that?"
"Well, first off because you're no longer wearing that look you always have."
Laura turned to face him. "What look?"
"The one that fairly screams you haven't been..."
"Ouch!" Remington yelled, after Laura jabbed him in the ribs.
"In quite some time." He finished. Allowing Laura to fill in the blank.
"And secondly, because I heard them making a ten dollar wager to that effect." Remington grinned rubbing his middle.
A wide smile overtook Laura's features and she collapsed in laughter. She'd have to remind herself to collect her five dollars from Bernice when they returned.
