Sunlight drifted lazily into the villa, bathing the entire room in warmth. Stretching languidly, Laura slowly opened her eyes. Turning slightly, she smiled when her gaze encountered a very ruffled, sleep laden Remington lying next to her. Even in slumber he looked delectable; his hair was literally standing on end, his jaw line was etched with morning stubble, and his lips were full and slightly parted. Laura almost laughed aloud when she realized in the many times she'd seen him asleep, she'd never seen him drool.
As if sensing her scrutiny, Remington opened his eyes and blinked several times. When his blue eyes focused on Laura, he smiled lopsidedly. He noted the mirth in her eyes and quirked an eyebrow. "And just what were you doing before I woke up, eh?" He said, in a voice still thick with sleep.
"Looking at you." Laura grinned.
"Oh? And that action has you laughing, does it?"
"Actually, I was in awe. In the entire time I've known you, I've never once seen you drool."
Remington turned towards her and supported himself on an elbow. He gave her a smile that sent a wave of heat coursing through her body. "I only drool when I'm alone."
Laura giggled and ran her finger along the inside of his arm. "In that case, I don't suspect you'll be doing it anytime soon."
"Doing what?" He said, wickedly.
"Drooling."
Remington leaned over and eased Laura onto her back. Desire was clearly defined in his eyes, and Laura couldn't have missed it if she'd tried.
"I don't think I've given you a proper good morning, my delightful, sinfully delectable, Miss Holt."
"Really? You mean us waking up in bed together, after a indescribable night of passion, isn't proper enough?"
"Alas, no. I think I can definitely do better by way of a 'morning after' greeting." Remington promised, rolling off her and onto his side of the bed. He leaned over the edge of the bed, and when he returned, he was carrying a wicker breakfast tray.
Laura looked at the tray in surprise. There was orange juice, sliced papaya, strawberries, several croissants and a single red rose.
"When in the world did you have time to do this?" Laura gasped in surprise.
"While you were drooling on your pillow." Remington grinned.
"You're incorrigible." Laura blushed, poking him in the arm.
"Eat up, Mrs. DeWinter. You need your strength."
"I do? For what, Mr. DeWinter?"
"Well, for starters after you finish your snack we're going to make love again; then we're going poolside to have a real breakfast. Afterwards we are disappearing for the entire day to tour the island. No discussing our current case, past cases, future cases, and no ingenious movie references--of any kind. For today I want your undivided attention, and I'm not taking no for an answer," he said in a tone that brooked no argument.
Laura was silent for a moment before she broke into a wide grin. Remington hadn't realized he'd been holding his breath waiting for her reply.
"In that case, pass me a croissant, Mr. Steele."

True to her word, Laura didn't say a peep about work. It was foreign to her at first, but as the day went along, it became easier to do. Their first stop was The International Bazaar. It was a huge shopping complex that had at least one hundred shops and restaurants. Remington steered Laura into the Colombian Emeralds International to tour their massive jewelry factory. Laura watched Remington intently as they watched the craftsmen transform gems, gold and silver into beautiful jewelry. At the end of their guided tour, Laura handed Remington a napkin from her purse.
"What's this for?" He questioned.
"It's for you. Now you're the one that's starting to drool." Laura beamed.
Remington roared with laughter then kissed the bridge of her nose. "I must admit a certain fondness for exquisite gems." He eyed her intently. "Wherever I may find them."
His meaning wasn't lost on her, and she blushed slightly. Remington took her hand and pulled her toward the front of the shop. He stopped in front of a display and signaled a salesman.
"How may I help you, sir?"
"Good morning, my good man. I'd like to see something that's half as beautiful as my wife here."
Laura smiled, but not nearly as much as the salesman did.
"Absolutely, sir. If you step this way, I'm sure we can find something that is worthy of your wife's beauty."
Twenty minutes and three protests later, they left the store with a sparkling emerald and diamond pendant. Laura kept touching the gold chain it was suspended from and eyeing Remington with gratitude.
"This wasn't necessary." Laura started.
"Yes it was. I wanted you to have something that was just from me."
"It's breathtaking. Thank you for buying it for me."
"Anything for my sexy, adorable wife." Remington winked.
The breath caught in Laura's throat, but she didn't comment.
They enjoyed an afternoon packed with excitement and discovery. After lunch Remington took Laura to UNEXSO to the "Dolphin Experience. They were able to get into the water and interact with the dolphins; an experience they both enjoyed. They ended the evening at a remote restaurant on the island that specialized in breathtaking sunsets and a show where patrons could watch experienced employees feeding the sharks. On the taxi ride back to the resort, Laura put her hand in Remington's and squeezed.
"Thank you for a day I'll never forget."
"You're welcome Laura, it was truly my pleasure.
"You never cease to amaze me. Just when I think I've got you figured out, you do something completely unexpected."
"Just part of my charm, darling." Remington declared kissing her hand.
"Well, keep it up, it's working." She laughed.
When they returned to their villa, Remington turned the key in the lock and stepped aside. Entering the cozy room, Laura couldn't believe her eyes. The room was glowing in candlelight and adorned with fragrant flowers. Closing her eyes, Laura inhaled the aromatic scent. When she turned around, Remington was leaning casually against the wall, watching her.
"I...how...how did you arrange all this?" Laura stammered.
"Ah, that my love, is a trade secret."
Laura walked straight up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands went immediately around her waist to pull her close. Their lips met in a mutual embrace and the passion that had been simmering between them ignited instantly. After a few moments, Remington picked her up and took her to the bed without breaking their kiss.
Laying her gently on the soft mattress, he knelt in front of her. He simply stared at her. When Laura returned his gaze, her breath caught. She saw deep, calm blue that warred with raging desire. She shook her head in disbelief. "I could drown in your eyes." Laura choked, her voice laden with love.
"I'd rather you drowned in passion." Remington replied, slowly lowering himself onto the bed.
